In the cosmic battlefield of Cybertron, the valiant Autobots, commanded by the noble Optimus Prime, found themselves teetering on the brink of defeat in the epic Great Cybertronian War against their nefarious foes, the Decepticons. With their backs against the wall, the Autobots hatched a plan to flee their dying homeworld. But the Decepticons, led by the cunning Shockwave, the devious Soundwave, and the treacherous Starscream, had other ideas. They launched a surprise attack during the Autobots’ evacuation, forcing Optimus to send a young scout, the plucky B-127, to Earth to establish a new base of operations. Alone and adrift, B-127 crash-landed in the sun-kissed fields of California in 1987, unwittingly interrupting a top-secret training exercise by Sector 7, a shadowy government agency tasked with monitoring alien activity on Earth. Mistaking B-127 for a hostile invader, the trigger-happy Colonel Jack Burns and his men gave chase, driving the Autobot scout deep into the forest. There, B-127 found himself ambushed by the fearsome Decepticon Blitzwing, who demanded to know Optimus’ whereabouts. When B-127 refused to betray his leader, Blitzwing cruelly ripped out his voice-box and damaged his memory core.

The film takes us back to the 1980s, where we meet Charlie Watson, a teenage girl who discovers a yellow Volkswagen Beetle in a junkyard. Little does she know, the car is actually Bumblebee, a Transformer from the planet Cybertron. As Charlie and Bumblebee form a bond, they must fight off Decepticons who are hunting them down. Hailee Steinfeld delivers a standout performance as Charlie, bringing depth and emotion to the character. John Cena also shines as a government agent tasked with tracking down Bumblebee.
